God always remembers His Word. He forever recalls His Covenant, and His promises. Anything that He ever said He would do for you personally, will come to pass in your life. The passage of time will never dull the promise He made to you. Anything the Lord specifically spoke in the stillness of your heart, is already done. The very existence of heaven and earth depend on it (Matt 24:35). Do you believe this? Not only does the Lord remember His promises there are other things He refuses to forget. He will not forget your faith toward Him.

Malachi 3:16–17 (KJV)
16 Then they that feared the LORD spake often one to another: And the LORD hearkened, and heard it, And a book of remembrance was written before him For them that feared the LORD, and that thought upon his name. 17 And they shall be mine, saith the LORD of hosts, In that day when I make up my jewels; And I will spare them, as a man spareth his own son that serveth him.
- But yet, God’s memory is selective. He chooses to forget certain things, like your sins.
Isa. 43:25 (NKJV)
25 “I, even I, am He who blots out your transgressions for My own sake; And I will not remember your sins.
- What does that have to do with God remembering our faith?

The Remembrance Side of Hebrews 11
- There are twelve different people, recorded in Hebrews 11, who believed God.
- God remembers faith.
- Note, all twelve are Old Testament people.
- God wants every generation to know how these twelve people believed Him.
- There record spans thousands of years.
Hebrews 11:32 (KJV)
32 And what shall I more say? for the time would fail me to tell of Gideon, and of Barak, and of Samson, and of Jephthae; of David also, and Samuel, and of the prophets:
- Verse 32 tells us there’s more than twelve who believed God.
Hebrews 11:35–36 (KJV)
35 Women received their dead raised to life again: and others were tortured, not accepting deliverance; that they might obtain a better resurrection: 36 And others had trial of cruel mockings and scourgings, yea, moreover of bonds and imprisonment:
- There were others as verses 35 and 36 show.
Where Are The New Testament Saints Who Believed God?
- Notice who is not in the list.
- Not a single person appearing in the pages of the New Testament are recorded in Hebrews 11. Not even Jesus.
- How come Jesus is not in this list?
- We know if anybody operated in faith, Jesus did.
Matthew 3:17 (KJV)
17 And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.
Hebrews 11:6 (KJV)
6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
- Hebrews 11:6 coupled with Matt.3:17 prove Jesus moved in faith. How else could He have pleased God?
- Hebrews was written approximately 65 A.D. Plenty of time for word to get around of the miracles that the disciples performed.
- Peter and John at the Beautiful Gate raised a man 40 years old who had never walked (Acts 3:1–8). There testimony was that it was faith in the name that made that man whole (Acts 3:16).
- If there was plenty of time and plenty of candidates to write about, why are they not included in the Hebrews 11 faith chapter?
Hebrews 11:39 (KJV)
39 And these all, having obtained a good report through faith, received not the promise:
- Who are the people identified as ‘these all’ in this verse? They are all of the Old Testament saints already mentioned. They are set in this chapter as representing people who did great and mighty things through faith. But, they did it all under the Old Covenant. These people wrought great things even though they didn’t have what believers have under the New Testament.
Hebrews 8:6 (KJV)
6 But now hath he obtained a more excellent ministry, by how much also he is the mediator of a better covenant, which was established upon better promises.
- The theme of Hebrews 11 is this, if Old Covenant saints could do great things for God under an inferior covenant, how much more can we do since we have the better covenant established upon better promises?

Faith for A Moment
- Take a look at the events of faith recorded in this chapter. How long did it take these people to believe God in these instances?
- How much ‘faith time’ was invested in this?
- Faith is what we are to walk in.
- Heb. 10:38 speaks of the lifestyle of faith. Faith worked into every area of your life.
Hebrews 10:38 (KJV)
38 Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him.
- A man’s life is broken up into events.
- It’s like a book; a book is broken up into chapters.
- At a eulogy, we go through some of the events of a person’s life. We recall the high spots.
- Ecclesiastes 3:1 calls these events seasons.
Eccl. 3:1 (NKJV)
1 To everything there is a season, A time for every purpose under heaven:
- Look at the time period here. How long does it take to be born?
- How long did it take to get you healed?
- These seasons’ are ‘times’ of faith.
- A lifestyle of faith is filled with seasons or times of faith.
- A lifestyle of faith is filled with short periods of specific faith stretched out over a lifespan.
Moses Old Testament Moment of Faith
- Hebrews 11:28 – Moses Moment of Faith: The Passover (Ex. 11 & 12)
Exodus 11:2 (KJV)
2 Speak now in the ears of the people, and let every man borrow of his neighbour, and every woman of her neighbour, jewels of silver, and jewels of gold.
- How long was the moment? Look at the words ‘Speak now’.
- The only faith they needed to exercise was in that moment of speaking.
Exodus 11:4 (KJV)
4 And Moses said, Thus saith the LORD, About midnight will I go out into the midst of Egypt:
- How long was the moment? That same day, the midnight of the day that God spoke to Moses.
- That’s the part you need to see. We are supposed to live a life of faith but that life is small moments of time where we operate and believe God.
- Where is the faith part? Moses heard the Lord speak. Now, he has to go and do what he heard.
Ex. 12:21 (NKJV)
21 Then Moses called for all the elders of Israel and said to them, “Pick out and take lambs for yourselves according to your families, and kill the Passover lamb.
- When you act on what the Lord tells you to do, that is your faith for that moment and God remembers it!
- Are you ready for your moment?
Call to Action:
In God’s book of remembrance, faith and famous are one word. It is your faith exercised in the moments of your life which are never forgotten by an all knowing God. Your obedience to His still small voice is what is treasured and source material for God’s journal of journals.
