Can Your Loved One’s Come to Jesus at the Last Moment?

Is it possible for a person to come to Jesus at the last moment? Can an individual live their entire life opposed to God’s will and yet come to true repentance on their death bed? The following testimony is proof positive that God save a man within seconds of death. The moral? Don’t ever toss away your faith for your loved ones. God can and does save people at the last moment of their lives.

This is a guest post by Cheryl Little. Cheryl has been a Born-again Christian for 34 years.  She is the devoted wife of Minister Reggie Little and has lived in New Jersey most of her life. “I Want You To Pray For Me”

These were the last words my brother spoke to me minutes before he died.

On Saturday morning, November 21, 2015, I received news from my sister that our only brother, Martin, was back in the hospital.  He had been in and out of the hospital so many times in the past year that I thought whatever his condition, the doctors would treat and release him as they had always done.

I was wrong.  There was no treatment and he would never again be released to go home because my brother was dying.  This was now a matter of eternal life or death because Martin did not know Jesus.

With only hours left of his life, God orchestrated one of the most amazing moments of my life, I believe to have been a Divine Intervention.

The  same day my brother went into the hospital, I had (previously) planned to take my elderly aunt food shopping.  Having heard this news, I was contemplating whether or not to go see my brother at the hospital.  He wasn’t in intensive care, so I thought, maybe I’ll just wait till the next day to go see him.

While shopping with my aunt, I couldn’t stop thinking about my brother.  Why is he so heavy on my heart?  More so, I felt I had exhausted all within me trying to reach my brother for Christ for decades.  Not just I, but my sister, my husband and many others had shared the gospel with him but to no avail. He bore no fruits.  God’s Word just seemed to fall on stony ground and deaf ears.

Two weeks prior to my brother’s passing, Sharon, a friend of the family, called me concerned for my brother.  She assured me to trust God for my brother’s salvation no matter what it looks like and “to pray” that God would send laborers his way.  I had no idea the laborers would be the two closest people in my brother’s life, his sisters.

Going back to that faithful day, in the store at the checkout counter, my aunt brought to my attention, that she had gotten some of my brother’s (her nephew) favorite snacks.  I told her that I would stop by the hospital on my way home to drop off the snacks.

There was my answer.  God was sending me, a laborer in the vineyard, to my brother.  Also, to my unaware, around the same time, my sister (who lives in Georgia) had just gotten off the phone with my brother and was on her face crying out to the Lord for our brother’s soul, that he would not die in his sins.

On the way to the hospital, I called my husband to tell him my change of plans (so to speak) and to ask him to pray, also.  He said, “I will pray.”  “Where there are two or three gathered together (in the Spirit of oneness in Christ) I will be in the midst “(of the situation)- Matt. 18:20.

When I got to the hospital, not knowing what to expect, I walked into my brother’s room and saw death before my eyes.  He was still alive, but life was slowly leaving his body.  He was sitting up on the side of the bed, in great pain.  My brother looked up at me and with all the strength he could mustard up, said, “My doctor said I only had two weeks to live.”  He also, shared with me that he had a dream that our mom, dad and (maternal) grandmother were with him. They are all with Jesus in Heaven.

I said nothing because from here on out, everything had to be God.  So, I pulled up a chair next to his bedside.  I sat quietly listening to hear that still small voice. During that time, the nurse had come into his room to take his vitals.

This gave me a moment to call my sister.  I told her, I believe our brother is dying!  Even though she was not physically there, she felt in her spirit the same thing. Kim, (my sister), urged me to speak to our brother about Jesus one last time.  I hung up with her and continued to wait on the Lord.

The moment of His Truth came to my brother when I asked him,
“What can I do to help you?  How can I help you, Marty?” He replied immediately, I want you to pray for me.” I stood up and laid my right hand on his right shoulder and began to pray.

In that moment, my brother grabbed my arm and held it tightly. In that moment, Martin humbled himself and bowed his head. In that moment, there was not any nurse activity in his room.  In that moment, I felt the presence of the Lord.

“Lord, let thy will be done,” was the power point of the prayer.  As the Lord guided me in prayer, I asked Martin to repeat a prayer of repentance and the prayer of salvation (Romans 10:9) and he did so willfully!  As Martin spoke, he did so without any moaning or groaning as he had done prior to the prayer.  He spoke with clarity, in a strong voice, not once gasping for breath.  In that moment of prayer, God gave my brother a revelation of who He was and what His Son Jesus did for him on the cross!

As soon as the prayer ended, my brother’s pain started back; even stronger.  His breathing became shallow and every breath he took, seemed like his last.  But, I remained calm because God’s will was done and my brother’s name was now written in the Lamb’s Book of Life!

Within minutes, Martin collapsed backwards across the bed, took his last breath and went home to be with His Lord!  “To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.”

“Hope In A Broken World”

My husband, Reggie, who is a Minister of the gospel of Jesus Christ, preached a beautiful eulogy at my brother’s memorial service.  The title was, “Hope In A Broken World.” It was a timely and needed word.

  1. Cheryl-Thank you for this and praise our great God for the way He used you and intervened through the power of the Holy Spirit to welcome your brother Home. In our church, we talk about praying for our “8 to 15”. Those are the people in our natural sphere of influence that we pray for to know Jesus as new or recharged believers. My 8-to-15 contains many “tough cases,” but your testimony provides great encouragement to continue praying! He can do all things–nothing is impossible!
