Seeing Jesus Remarkable Mission in the Light of Prophecy

You Can See Jesus in the Prophetic Scriptures

Hebrew 2:9 encourages us to see Jesus who was made lower than the angels so that He could suffer death for every man. But not only can you see Jesus in the pages of the New Testament. You can see Him in the pages of the Old. You can see Him in the prophetic scriptures themselves.

Seeing Jesus in the Six Objectives of Daniels Four-Hundred-Ninety Years Prophecy

Daniel 9:24 (KJV) — 24 Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy.

  • Continuing from last weeks blog we saw that the entire 490 year period determined upon the people of Israel had six objectives.
    • To finish the transgression
    • To make an end of sins
    • To make reconciliation for iniquity
    • To bring in everlasting righteousness
    • To seal up the vision and prophecy
    • To anoint the most Holy
  • The first four objectives are about sin and righteousness.
  • The first was to finish transgression.

Seventy Weeks Objective Two: To Put an End to Sin

  • If you would, recall that this prophecy was about events connected to the nation of Israel.
  • This 490 years was a block of time in their national life.
  • Jesus is front and center in these six objectives.
  • Without Him, there is no fulfillment of any of these objectives.
  • Because he is the one who came in obedience to God’s plan.
  • He is the one who, in the fullness of time, stepped down from heaven’s glory and was clothed in human flesh having laid aside His mighty power and glory as God.
  • But God’s plan didn’t just include Israel, it included you and I as Gentiles.
  • We were bought with the same price as the nation of Israel.
  • Jesus came for both Jew and Gentile.
  • And, it’s because of Him that we enjoy the end of sin.
  • The Hebrews word ‘put an end to sin’ means the sealing up of sin.
  • It’s the same word used in Daniel twelve where Daniel is instructed to seal the book.

Daniel 12:4 (KJV) — 4 But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased.

  • Sin has been sealed by the Savior and not just Israel’s sin but your’s and mine as well.
  • Glory to God!
  • You know when a very young person commits a crime worthy of an adult, at times the court seals his record until he becomes of age.
  • A sealed record means no one can know what the crime was.
  • No one has a right to know your sin because the records have been eternally sealed.
  • Satan can’t legally bring up to you because he doesn’t have a right to the information.
  • Now, he still tries to bring it up to you illegally.
  • Don’t allow it, the records of your transgressions are sealed by the legal courts of heaven.
  • But the Lord did something further than just seal up the record of your sin.

Colossians 2:14 (KJV) — 14 Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;

  • Not only were the records sealed but the actual writing on the document itself was blotted out.
  • The Greek word ‘blotting out’ is a verb meaning it was an action of God.
  • It was something He actually did Himself.
  • What did He do?
  • He erased the words on the record.
  • Blotting out means to remove by or as if by rubbing or wiping off.
  • If it was ever possible that the records could be unsealed, they would reveal nothing were your former sinful actions are concerned.
  • Your record is clean.
  • There are no indictments on it.
  • Don’t let the enemy continue to bring you a mental picture of what doesn’t even exist in the mind of God.
  • But that’s not all the Father God did through Jesus.
  • Not only did He seal the record and erase the contents of the record, But He also took the now sealed document and nailed it to the cross.
  • Picture this in your mind.
  • Your sealed and empty record nailed to the cross that Jesus was nailed on has His precious Blood flowing over the document.
  • Your empty ‘sin’ record is saturated with His Blood.
  • You are a clean man, you are a clean woman.
  • Your sins are gone.
  • The next objective in Daniel nine tells us why.
  • Because Jesus made reconciliation for iniquity.

Seventy Weeks Objective Three: To Make Reconciliation for Iniquity

  • The King James words ‘to make reconciliation’ means to atone.
  • Jesus atoned for iniquity or wickedness.
  • The Hebrew word for atone means to cleanse from sin or the defilement of sin, most often by sacrifice.

Seventy Weeks Objective Four: To Bring in Everlasting Righteousness

  • This is the pinnacle of the plan of God.
  • It was important to remove sin so man could be made righteous.
  • Righteousness means the ability to stand in the Presence of God as if you have never sinned in the first place.

2 Corinthians 5:21 (KJV) — 21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

  • Quit trying to be righteous.
  • Just accept the fact that you are.
  • What is the effect of knowing that you are the righteousness of God in Christ?
  • Well, think of the effect of sin in your life?
  • When you sinned, did it cause you to cower in God’s Presence?
  • Did you even try to go into God’s Presence or did you run from His Presence until all the guilt kind of wore off?
  • Understanding righteousness bolsters the prayer life.
  • It allows you to come into His Presence boldly because you know you belong there.
  • There is no sin and you are His child.
  • Why wouldn’t you come to Him?
  • Jesus put you into that position of confidence by His sacrificial life.

Hebrews 4:16 (KJV) — 16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

  • I love talking about Jesus and what he did.
  • And all Jesus remarkable mission is plainly seen in the first four objectives of Daniels 490 year prophecy.
