Why Jesus Proven Second Coming Produces Ironclad Hope

Why Jesus Proven Second Coming Produces Ironclad Hope

Hope is a marvelous and essential part of the power triplets, faith, hope, and love. The Lord provides hope and a way of escape in perilous times as the light grows darker among those who refuse to believe. He did such a thing in Noah’s day when the world was even darker than it is right now. God provided hope and a way of escape via the Ark that He commanded Noah to build. There’s a humorous story detailing the Ark building process. Here it is. And the Lord said unto Noah: “Where is the ark which I have commanded you to build?” And Noah said unto the Lord: “Truly, I have had three carpenters off sick. The gopher-wood supplier has let me down—yea, even though the gopher wood has been on order for over 12 months. What can I do, O Lord?” And God said unto Noah: “I want that ark finished even after seven days and seven nights.” And Noah said: “It will be so.” And it was not so. And the Lord said unto Noah: “What seems to be the trouble this time?” And Noah said unto the Lord: “My subcontractor has gone bankrupt. The pitch which you commanded me to put on the outside and on the inside of the ark has not arrived. The plumber has gone on strike. Shem, my son who helped me on the ark side of the business, has formed a pop group with his brothers Ham and Japheth. Lord, I am undone.” And the Lord grew angry and said: “And what about the animals, the male and the female of every sort that I ordered to come to you to keep their seed alive upon the face of the earth?” And Noah said: “They have been delivered to the wrong address but should arrive on Friday.” And the Lord said: “How about the unicorns, and the fowls of the air by sevens?” And Noah wrung his hands and wept, saying: “Lord, unicorns are a discontinued line; you can’t get them for love or money. And fowls of the air are sold only in half-dozens, Lord. Lord, you know how it is.” And the Lord in His wisdom said: “Noah, my son, I know. Why else do you think I have caused a flood to descend upon the earth?”1 Now, hopefully, that put a needed smile on your face. In today’s podcast, we take a look at the actual way hope and deliverance come via the simple expectation of Jesus Return. Why Jesus Proven Second Coming Produces Ironclad Hope, that’s our focus on this week’s Light on Life.

Why Holy Spirit Inspired Hope is the Anchor of the Soul

Podcast: Light on Life Season 9 Episode 18

Why Holy Spirit Inspired Hope is the Anchor of the Soul

Hope springs eternal; that’s what the writer says, but what does the Bible say about hope? Billy Graham was preaching in Germany one day when German Chancellor Konrad Adenauer invited him to his office: Coffee was served, but before my first sip, the Chancellor started in. “Young men, do you believe in the resurrection of Jesus Christ?” “I most certainly do,” Billy Graham replied. “So, do I. If Jesus Christ has not risen from the dead, there is not one glimmer of hope for the human race. When I leave office, I will spend the rest of my life studying and writing about the resurrection of Jesus Christ. It’s the most important event in human history.”1 So, the confident expectation of a future event generated via the resurrection of Jesus is one strong source of hope. Why Holy Spirit Inspired Hope is the Anchor of the Soul, that’s our focus on this week’s Light on Life.

The Role of the Spirit in the Life of A Believer

The Role of the Spirit in the Life of A Believer

Roaming through Romans

Gardner Taylor said that words are vehicles by which to transfer ideas from one mind to another. However, he went on to say, some ideas are so heavy that the words break down in the effort. What a blessed assurance it is to know that when words break down in our effort to transmit the deepest longings of our hearts, we have the Divine Helper through whom these yearnings find their way to the mind of our Heavenly Father. According to Romans 8:26–27 the Holy Spirit takes our inarticulate groanings and verbalizes them to the Father. Through the Holy Spirit of God who indwells you, a groan in your soul can be the most eloquent prayer you ever prayed.  1 In today’s post, we take a look at the role of the Holy Spirit in the prayer life of a believer.

Walking in the Now With One Foot Toward Tomorrow

Believers in Jesus are people of multiple focal points. We walk in the time dimensions of faith, hope and love. We live in the seen realm while we look at the unseen. We live out the will of God for our lives today while we look forward to our prophetic future. We are a people of two worlds. Is it possible to live a balanced two dimensional life?

This is Part One of a two part post.

How to Break Free from Addiction

The French philosopher Pascal said there is a “God-shaped vacuum” inside every human heart. Since nature abhors a vacuum, if we don’t fill it with God, we will fill it with something else. So many of us have filled our hearts with the junk food of the world 1. Some have gone past junk food and gone chemical to the point of addiction. Chemical cravings are as old as time. The Bible gives ample proof that excessive drinking of intoxicants was a common vice among the Hebrews, as among other ancient peoples (Noah, Gen. 9:21; Lot, Gen. 19:33, 35; Nabal, 1 Samuel 25:30; Amnon 1 Samuel 13:28; Elah, 1 Kings 16:9) 2. Despite the long history, there is hope, help, and healing for those caught in the enslavement of substance abuse.

Hope In Dark Places

This is a guest post by Stephanie K. Taylor, Sophie West’s best friend. Stephanie has a degree in journalism from Oklahoma State University. From her bio at her blog: “Go Pokes! I love all things music and art. Running is my therapy. Cooking is my joy. Fashion is my playground. I am quirky, sarcastic and I often fall walking up steps.  When I am not spending my time being super graceful, I am writing.” She blogs at stephkt.wordpress.com/blog

Whenever I am asked to share my story, I always think to myself, “Where do I start?” In my twenty four years of life, though only a short time, it seems as though I have lived a lifetime. I like to tell people that I am an old soul. My story has had it’s fair share of ups and downs, highs and lows, good times and bad times, and I wouldn’t change any of it. It’s given me a testimony to encourage other people, a big part of which includes the story of my mom.

#014: Being a Two Dimensional Believer [Podcast]

Believers in Jesus are people of multiple realms and multiple dimensions. We walk in the dimensions of faith, hope and love. We live in the seen realm of today; we look at the unseen realm of tomorrow. We are people of the spiritual realm. And, we are people of the natural realm. With our spirits we contact God, the Creator of the Universe. With our bodies, we take out the trash! How does one live a balanced two dimensional life?
