The First Step in God’s Plan for Your Life

God’s plan begins with a Person—Jesus. Meeting Him means surrendering to God’s way of salvation, admitting we can’t reach heaven on our own, and receiving the new life only Jesus gives. The Bible makes this step clear:

If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved… For “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” — Romans 10:9–13 (ESV)

Hear the Good News

God loves you and sent His Son to save you. Jesus took your place on the cross, died for your sins, and rose again from the dead (1 Corinthians 15:3–5) so you can be made new (2 Corinthians 5:17).

Believe & Confess

Turn from living life your way to living life the Jesus way. Trust Jesus alone—He is the only way to the Father (John 14:6). Say a heart-level yes to God and confess with your mouth Jesus is your Lord.

Surrender & Pray

Call out to God. He always keeps His Word—and He promises to save everyone who calls on Him (Romans 10:9–13). Use the prayer below if it helps, or speak to Him in your own words.

Pray This from Your Heart

Lord Jesus, I believe You are the Son of God. You died for my sins and rose again. I turn from my sin and surrender my life to You. Thank you for forgiving me. Cleans me, and make me new. I confess that You are my Lord and I trust You as my Savior. Thank You for receiving me. I choose to follow You. Amen.

What Just Happened?

When you called on Jesus in faith, God did what only He can do: the Holy Spirit made you a new creation in Christ. Your sins are forgiven, you’ve been brought into God’s family, and His Spirit now lives in you. This is the first step in walking with God, knowing God, and living for God.

  • The Bible is God’s Word and final authority.
  • God is Father, Son, and Holy Spirit — one God, three Persons.

What if I don’t feel different?
Faith is not a feeling—it’s trusting what God says. What God said is that if you confess Jesus as your Lord and you believe God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved (Romans 10:9). Your new status in Jesus before God is real because He promised it—not because you feel it. God does not lie. You are saved by grace through faith (Ephesians 2:8–9).
Can I lose my salvation?

Yes, people have lost their salvation. Hebrews 6:4–6 states the facts concerning this question:

Hebrews 6:4–6 (ESV) — 4 For it is impossible, in the case of those who have once been enlightened, who have tasted the heavenly gift, and have shared in the Holy Spirit, 5 and have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the powers of the age to come, 6 and then have fallen away, to restore them again to repentance, since they are crucifying once again the Son of God to their own harm and holding him up to contempt.

Your “YES” to the Lordship of Jesus must be a continual “YES.” Be assured that if you keep your heart saying “YES” to Him, your salvation is secure because it’s based on Jesus’ finished work—not your performance. Jesus said, “No one will snatch them out of my hand” (John 10:28). As you follow Him, He will keep you.
