#S2-034: How to Put Yourself In the Word for Healing [Podcast]

Healing for the Sick God's Way

The Bible is meant for your everyday life. It’s meant to be used and applied. It’s not just a collection of short stories for entertainment. Are you hearing me Hollywood? How can the jump be made from narrative to vibrant faith? One way is to learn to put yourself into the verses in the Bible. The truth is God wrote this book especially for you. Putting yourself into the Word, into the stories, into the truths found within it’s pages will lead you out of defeat and into victory.

This is part two of the Series entitled, ‘Healing for the Sick God’s Way’. You can find Part one ‘How to Get Faith for Healing’ here.

We closed last week’s podcast with these words.

  • Find a verse which promises you the thing you’re seeking.
  • If it’s healing, it should be a healing verse not Noah and the ark.
  • Noah and the ark is good and right and there are principles you can learn from it.
    • But you don’t need to build an ark, you need to be healed.
    • And if you need healing, you need a healing verse.
  • Moses splitting the Red Sea is a good and necessary story.
    • Its principles are tried and proven.
    • But you don’t need God to part the water in your bath tub. You need healing.
  • And if you need healing, you need a healing verse.

The Great Healing Verse of Exodus 15:26

Exodus 15:26 (KJV)
26 And said, If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the Lord thy God, and wilt do that which is right in his sight, and wilt give ear to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am the Lord that healeth thee.

  • Exodus 15:26 is a healing verse.
  • It has power in it to heal cancer.
  • If you meditate on it, faith will come.
  • If you act on it out of a heart filled with faith, sickness will melt of your body like a snowball in a hot August sun.
  • If you think on the fact that the Lord is the God who heals you,
  • If you ponder on the fact that if God healed Israel by way of a healing covenant as He did here in Exodus 15:26, faith will come and by it’s coming bring deliverance to your body.
  • What can we learn about divine healing from this verse?
  • How can we put ourselves into this verse?

Healing Is a Statue and an Ordinance

  • A statue is a written law.
  • God wrote healing down for His people as a statute, a law.
  • Cancer, then, is against the law.
  • Heart conditions are against the law.
  • Livers, kidneys, lungs and bladders which aren’t functioning as they should, are against the law.
  • Growths, tumors, and skin disorders are against the law.
  • What law?
  • The law of God.
  • Jesus said these stunning words just days before He would ascend back to the Father.

[Tweet “God wrote healing down for His people as a statute or a law. Cancer, then, is against the law.”]

Matthew 28:18-19 (NASB)
18 And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. 19 “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, All authority is given to me in heaven and earth. You go…

  • Jesus told us to go.
    • Go and do what?
    • Go and enforce the law.
  • After all, you are Gods policemen in the earth.
  • Whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven.
  • Whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven (Matt. 18:18).
  • Is this image a challenging one for you?
  • Can you picture a police officer at an intersection directing traffic?
  • When the officer holds up his hand, traffic comes to a halt.
    • No matter how large the vehicle.
    • No matter how fast the vehicle is traveling.
    • No matter how many vehicles there are.
  • Put yourself in that picture.
  • When sickness tries to come through your intersection, put your hand up and enforce God’s law of health and wholeness.
  • Your authority in Christ works no matter…
    • How big the sickness is.
    • How fast the sickness is working in your body.
    • How many individual sicknesses are at work in your body.
  • You are authorized by God against sickness and disease.
  • Rise up and enforce the law.
  • What else can we learn from Exodus 15:26?

Healing is a Part of God’s Name

  • God reveals His covenant name, Jehovah Rapha, in this passage.
  • Jehovah Rapha means “I am the Lord who heals you.”
  • The Lord, at various times in the history of man would reveal, a portion of who He is by a name.
  • In the ancient Near East, great significance was attached to personal names, for they revealed character and identity and signified existence. The revelation of a divine name and its continued use were of substantial importance for a people. 1
  • Here at the bitter waters of Marah in the wilderness, God revealed to Israel that He would be their physician.
  • Look at the type here. Look at the waters themselves.
  • The waters Israel tried to drink from were bitter and stale.
  • The pungent waters could not impart their intended blessings to man.
  • They should have brought life but instead they brought sourness.
  • The waters need help in order to fulfill their purpose.
  • The waters could not alter their state by their own power.
  • Without help, they would just continue to lay there.
  • Just exist.
  • In the Bible, waters symbolize people.
  • Is there any help for these waters?
  • Is there any help for people whose lives have been soured by sickness and disease?
  • Yes, thank God there is.
  • What kind of help is there?
  • A tree.
  • A tree?
  • Yes, a tree.

Exodus 15:23–25 (KJV)
23 And when they came to Marah, they could not drink of the waters of Marah, for they were bitter: therefore the name of it was called Marah. 24 And the people murmured against Moses, saying, What shall we drink? 25 And he cried unto the Lord; and the Lord shewed him a tree, which when he had cast into the waters, the waters were made sweet: there he made for them a statute and an ordinance, and there he proved them,

  • A supernatural thing took place here in Exodus 15.
  • When Moses cast a tree into the bitter waters, the waters became sweet.
  • Now, the people can drink.
  • Now, the waters are able to fulfill their purpose of bringing refreshment to man.
  • We must ask the question, ‘Is there is a tree which will make the bitter waters of life sweet?’
  • Thank God the answer is Yes.
  • Now, the text is not just referencing salvation here.
  • We know because the next words right after the waters are cured are words which reference healing.
  • They are the words of Exodus 15:26.
  • The Lord made a covenant of healing with His people and said that if they would keep all His commandments, He would be their health and healer continually.
  • Think about this?

How Can You Put Yourself Into Exodus 15:26?

  • Put yourself into this verse.
    • Think about God as your personal physician.
    • Think about God as the one who will never misdiagnose a case.
    • Meditate on this picture.
    • Ask yourself, Can the God who made the body, fix the body He made?
    • Take it one step further.
    • Can the God who made MY body heal MY body?
    • Become absorbed with the idea of Jesus as your personal healer.
  • When you come to God, when you come to the Chief Physician, He is going to give you a prescription for what ails you.
  • What does the Holy Apothecary of Heaven dispense as a prescription for cancer or as a formula against heart conditions?
  • His Word.

Proverbs 4:20–22 (KJV)
20 My son, attend to my words; Incline thine ear unto my sayings. 21 Let them not depart from thine eyes; Keep them in the midst of thine heart. 22 For they are life unto those that find them, And health to all their flesh.

  • The Father God says, the Word is the perfect prescription to provide healing for your flesh.

Psalm 107:20 (KJV)
20 He sent his word, and healed them, And delivered them from their destructions.

  • If you meditate and put yourself into Exodus 15:26, if you do it long enough, faith will come.
  • Releasing your faith is your ticket to health and wholeness.

The Great Healing Verse of Psalm 105:37

  • Psalm 105:37 references Israel’s exodus from Egypt.
  • Do you enjoy the story of the Exodus?
  • Do you like how God extended His might right hand with ten powerful plagues?
  • Each plague was aimed at one of the little ‘g’ gods of Egypt.
  • Who doesn’t get excited at watching our God do wonders?
  • What about the great Passover Feast, which Israel celebrated?
  • Did you know there was a great display of God’s healing power the night Israel partook of the lamb in celebration of the Passover?
  • Psalm 105 clues us in to this.

Psalm 105:37 (KJV)
37 He brought them forth also with silver and gold: And there was not one feeble person among their tribes.

  • Psalms 105:37 is a healing verse.
  • It has power in it to heal heart conditions.
  • What does Psalm 105:37 clue us into about the Exodus?
  • You understand at this particular time in Israel’s history they were a nation of slaves?
  • What does slavery imply?
  • What did Israel experience as slaves under Pharaoh?
  • Slave means…
    • Under clothed
    • Under fed
    • Over worked,
    • Not enough rest.

Exodus 1:13–14 (KJV)
13 And the Egyptians made the children of Israel to serve with rigour: 14 And they made their lives bitter with hard bondage, in morter, and in brick, and in all manner of service in the field: all their service, wherein they made them serve, was with rigour.

  • The word rigour in verse fourteen means harshness, severity, torment or oppression.
  • Israel as a slave nation was treated harshly and severely.
  • They were tormented and oppressed by their Egyptian captors.
  • What are these conditions a breeding ground for?
  • What happens when you’re overworked, underfed, under clothed and you don’t have enough rest?
  • You get sick that’s what happens.
  • The conditions Israel experienced in bondage and servitude were a breeding ground for sickness and disease.
  • Now you can see the miracle of the Passover and the 105th Psalm.
  • The Word of God emphatically states, He led them forth and there was not one feeble one among their tribes.
  • What happened to Israel?
  • How could it be said an entire slave nation living in abject conditions were not feeble?

Exodus 12:3–4 (KJV)
3 Speak ye unto all the congregation of Israel, saying, In the tenth day of this month they shall take to them every man a lamb, according to the house of their fathers, a lamb for an house: 4 And if the household be too little for the lamb, let him and his neighbour next unto his house take it according to the number of the souls; every man according to his eating shall make your count for the lamb.

  • Israel was commanded to take a lamb and prepare it for the Passover meal.
  • Notice God gives the added instruction in verse four for the case, “if the household be too little for the lamb’.
  • God never gives any instruction for the opposite case, “If the household be too big for the lamb.”
  • So, He covers the case if the household is too small but not if it’s too big.
  • Why?
  • The lamb may be too much for a house but it’s NEVER not enough.
  • What are we saying?
  • The Lamb’s shed blood is big enough for your house.
  • There’s never existed a case, a person, who has sinned so badly that the Lamb’s blood was not enough to cover it.
  • What did the nation of Israel do?
  • They partook of the Passover Lamb.

[Tweet “There’s never existed one who sinned so badly that the Lamb’s blood wasn’t enough to cover it.”]

Exodus 12:5–8 (KJV)
5 Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male of the first year: ye shall take it out from the sheep, or from the goats: 6 And ye shall keep it up until the fourteenth day of the same month: and the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel shall kill it in the evening. 7 And they shall take of the blood, and strike it on the two side posts and on the upper door post of the houses, wherein they shall eat it. 8 And they shall eat the flesh in that night, roast with fire, and unleavened bread; and with bitter herbs they shall eat it.

  • While they had the flesh in their mouths, while the blood which was applied dripped off the doorpost and hit the floor, God’s power swept through the entire Israelite camp and healed every man, every woman and every child.
  • And He did so, until the only testimony Israel could possibly have was, “There was not one feeble person among their tribes.
    • There was not one man who failed to receive.
    • There was not one child who remained afflicted.
    • Not one woman who stayed sick.
  • Think about it.
    • Think of all the tumors which hit the floor.
    • Think of all the cancers which just melted away.
    • Think of the all the skin diseases which dried up instantly.
  • If you meditate on the story of the Passover long enough, faith will come.
  • If you think on the fact that God brought Israel out of slavery totally healed, completely equipped, to Exodus out of the hard rigors of bondage to the Promised Land, faith will come.

How Can You Put Yourself Into Psalm 105:37?

  • How can you put yourself into this story?
  • You are not an Israelite.
  • Keeping the Passover is not something you do.
  • So, how can I draw faith from this section of the Bible?
First, meditate on God’s ability to heal an entire nation at one time.
  • If God has power to heal a nation corporately, doesn’t He have power to heal you individually?
  • Think on the fact that your God is a God who is more than enough.
  • He is more than enough God to heal whatever ails you.
  • Even if the doctor said, ‘You can’t be’. God said ‘You can.’
  • Ponder these thoughts.
  • Know your situation is never beyond the greatness of your God.
Second, the Passover in Israel is a type and shadow of Jesus Christ.
  • He is the lamb of God without blemish slain for you and me.

1 Corinthians 5:7 (KJV)
7 Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us:

  • Jesus is our Passover. Corinthians was written to a predominately Gentile church.
  • If Israel could be healed under a type and shadow, if an entire nation could be made ever bit whole under a foreshadow of that which was to come, you can be healed today because Jesus is the fulfillment of the type.
  • Jesus is the real deal.
  • He is here.
  • He is not a type and shadow.
  • He is the Lamb of God slain for you.
Thirdly, realize the Lamb’s Blood is big enough for your house.
  • There are no special circumstances.
  • There are no extraordinary situations which the Blood of Jesus cannot cover.
  • The Lamb’s Blood is big enough for your house.
  • If you meditate and quote Psalm 105:37 long enough, I am telling you boldly, faith will come.

Call to Action:

Life will become completely different when you learn to put yourself into God’s Word. As you ‘chew’ upon God’s Word, the nutrients in those words release into your spirit man. The Word builds you, edifies you, and makes you strong. When your spirit is strong, you have the ability to throw off the diseases of the body.

One thought on “#S2-034: How to Put Yourself In the Word for Healing [Podcast]

  1. 6 million Israelites walking out of Egypt shows God’s ability to heal as well as His will to heal. I never really thought about their condition before Passover but they must of been worn down and worn out.
